Heart of the Mountain is a casual Commander event that pits players against one another as they battle for control of the Heart of the Mountain, the legendary Arkenstone. The first player to deal combat damage to another becomes the first owner of the Arkenstone. Players may then claim the Arkenstone emblem for themselves by dealing combat damage to the owner, gaining bonuses while in possession of it—and also becoming the primary target at the table!
Each turn that a player controls the Arkenstone, during their upkeep phase they increase their ownership count by one (they do not lose this count if someone takes the Arkenstone from them). If a player's ownership count reaches three, they win the game.

What to Expect at a GT Games Trading Card Game Event
Our Trading Card Game (TCG) events at GT Games are structured, casual tournaments designed to be welcoming, social, and fun for players of all experience levels.
We use professional tournament software to organize player pairings into round-by-round matchups. Each round, you’ll be paired against another player and compete using your deck. As the event progresses, the software tracks standings and determines new matchups based on results — no need to worry about organizing anything yourself, we handle it all!
Prizes, Points & Bragging Rights
Players compete for:
-
Prize support (boosters, store credit, or other rewards depending on the event)
-
Bragging rights
-
In some games, official tournament points added to your player profile (if supported by the publisher)
Admission fees go directly toward the prize pool. The more players who join, the bigger the prize support becomes — making every event community-driven and exciting.
Weekly “Locals”
Many of our events are recurring weekly tournaments (often called “locals”). These are scheduled at the same time each week for specific games, giving players a consistent place to practice, improve, and connect with the local community.
Do I Need to Bring a Deck?
Event details will always specify the format:
-
Constructed Events – Players bring their own pre-built deck.
-
Sealed / Draft Events – We provide sealed product, and players build decks on the spot.
Most events require players to bring their own legal, tournament-ready deck unless otherwise stated.
Whether you’re brand new or a seasoned competitor, GT Games events are a great way to meet other players, sharpen your skills, and enjoy the hobby in a structured but relaxed environment. If you ever have questions before an event, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to help you get started!
