The HGBF #14 Cross Bone Gundam Maoh is a 1/144-scale High Grade (HG) plastic model kit from Bandai's Gundam Build Fighters (BF) line, released in April 2014. This kit represents a custom-modified version of the Crossbone Gundam X1, piloted by the character Mao Yasaka in the Gundam Build Fighters anime. It embodies a pirate-themed mobile suit with a striking skull motif on the chest, blending a soothing color scheme (primarily white, red, and black accents) with dark, grim elements like bone-like weapons and reflectors, making it a standout homage to the original Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam series.

Key Features and Design

• Articulation and Build Quality: Snap-fit assembly with no glue required; colored plastic minimizes the need for painting. It offers excellent posability, including extendable arms on the backpack and compatibility for kitbashing with other HG kits (e.g., backpack swaps via peg connections). The sculpt is highly detailed, with a smaller overall size compared to standard HGBF kits but packed with articulation for dynamic poses like V-sign hands.
• Gimmicks:
  • Chest-mounted skull satellite cannon that can be deployed under the skull emblem.
  • Extendable beam effects on backpack arms with removable mirror reflectors for a reflective, pirate flair.
  • Includes various hand parts for expressive posing.

Included Accessories and Weapons

This kit comes loaded with a wide array of armaments, emphasizing its combat versatility:

• Beam Zanbar (crossbone-style sword).
• Heat Daggers (pair of short blades).
• Buster Gun (pirate pistol-like beam weapon).
• Twin Beam Sword Guns (combinable beam sabers).
• Additional Beam Sabers and Daggers.
• Stickers for detailing (e.g., reflectors and accents).

Runner count: 9, plus 1 instruction manual and 1 sticker sheet.

Overall Appeal

Praised for its easy build, fun assembly, and impressive display value, it's ideal for fans of Gundam Build Fighters, Crossbone Gundam, or pirate-themed mecha. Reviewers highlight its value as a "must-have" for the line, with strong homage to the source material while adding unique BF customizations. Skill level: Suitable for ages 14+ or experienced builders; beginners may find the sticker application and weapon variety challenging but rewarding.
